Iowa Trappers Assn., Inc. Directors Spring Meeting

April 2, 2006

Call to Order

President Spencer Hill called the spring director’s meeting to order at 10:20 am at the Iowa State Tree Nursery, Ames , IA.

Roll Call

Roll call was answered by 3 officers, 12 directors, 2 directors at large, 2 proxy representatives, NTA director George Scalf, FTA director Dean Mitchell and DNR Ron Andrews. Spencer Hill read a letter of resignation from Chris Pohl since he has moved out of his district.

New Directors

Motion made by Gene Purdy to elect Lance Towns from Cedar Rapids for the District 9 position seconded by Dan Dalton. Carried.

Approve Agenda

Request from Dean Mitchell to give the FTA report before noon. Request from Ron Andrews to give DNR report before noon. Request made by Spencer Hill to let Dave Sedivec speak to the board from the State Association of  County Conservation Boards. Motion made by Ed Clouse to accept these changes and that Spencer Hill may put these persons in at his discretion, seconded by Jim Noneman. Carried.

Minutes

Secretary

Correction made in the minutes under the District Director Report that the NAFA raffle half of the money goes to the ITA only and half to the winner.

Motion made by Dita Mallon, seconded by Dennis Johnson to approve minutes. Carried.

      Executive Council

·        Executive Council discussed the Larry Anderson bobcat print. Dennis Johnson made a motion that any person not a member of the ITA pays $90 per print, same as the price Larry Anderson is it for selling the bobcat print for in his gallery and any ITA member may purchase the print for $60. Seconded by Jim Mallon. Carried.

·        The Executive council approved to sell raffle tickets for the Bobcat print for $5.00 each or 5 for $20.00

·        Motion made by Tom Gilman to approved the executive council decision on ordering trinkets, 250 money clips and 1000 pens and mailing the Vermont Trappers Assoc. a hat and shirt for their banquet. Seconded by Mike Free. Carried

Secretary’s Report

Dita Mallon reported current membership as 1380
Life Time membership as 257- 5 are deceased
Dita Mallon reported total cost of the new computer, printer and associated software was $1201.19
Ed Clouse made a motion to accept the secretary report. Seconded by Gene Purdy. Carried

Treasurer’s Report

Anna Marie Scalf reported that she mailed a partial payment of $6500 to Larry Anderson for the prints.
Anna Marie Scalf reported that she donated the cost of mailing a recruitment letter to the 412 Iowans who are currently receiving the Trapper and Predator caller but are not members.
The winners of the FHA 50/50 drawing was 1st place winner Karen Scalf, ½ the money and a Fur Harvester jacket. 2nd place winner Dana Lupkes 12- 220 traps and 3rd place winner Dita Mallon 12- No.11 traps. The other half of the money gets split 50/50 with the ITA and NTA.
Ed Clouse made motion to pay for the mailing Anna Marie Scalf to the Iowans receiving the Trapper and Predator Caller. Seconded by Dwayne Kay. Carried.
Discussion held on the proceeds from the shotgun raffle at George Scalf’s Sportsman’s Banquet. Mike Free made a motion to send the profit from the shotgun of $1210 to the NTA. Seconded by Gene Purdy. Carried.
The NTA is requesting the annual $5000 be sent earlier than the normal date of May 15. Motion made by Gene Purdy to send the $5000 early to the NTA. Seconded by Dennis Johnson. Carried.
Spencer Hill made a motion to accept the treasurer report. Seconded by Ed Grillot. Carried.

FTA Report

Dean Mitchell reported that there will be limited trapping on the Upper Mississippi Wildlife Refuge.
FTA is taking nominations for 5 seats on the governing board.
2006 FTA Convention will be in Evansville , Indiana June 15-18
2007 FTA Convention will be in Mora, Minn. June 14-17
Gene Purdy made a motion to send the FTA $500 for their white elephant auction at their 2006 Convention. Seconded by Mike Free. Carried.

DNR Report

Ron Andrews reported that the proposed bobcat season has been removed.
The river otter season has been approved statewide with a limit of 400 and 2 otter per license with final approval at the June meeting.

Guest Speaker

Dave Sedivec from the State Association of County Conservation Boards to request that the ITA and or NTA come to their Winter Fest annual meeting to speak January 22-24, 2007 at the 5 Sullivan Brothers Center in Waterloo to help get kids involved in trapping.
The State County Conservation Board is asking for some squirrel hide, rabbit hide, deer hide, deer hooves, Mt. Lion hide, turtle shell, turtle claws for their booth at the State Fair with the ITA receiving recognition.

·        Anna Marie Scalf received a thank you from Miss Rodeo Iowa.

·        George Scalf is representing the ITA at the Wildlife Discussion with the DNR the 18th of April

·        Spencer Hill received a thank you from the Friends of the NRA.

District Director Reports

·        Ed Grillot thanked everyone for his or her help with the Sportsman Banquet.

·        Jim Mallon reported on the UNI Dome show. Had 5 new members sign up and one lifetime sign up.

·        Spencer Hill received a plaque from Chris Flynn for the ITA from IFCNR.

  NTA Report

·        Steve Fitzwater resigned as NTA president.

·        Maine gave up the foothold trap for bears.

·        New Mexico had an incident and it was a concern they would lose their trapping rights on public hunting ground.

·        Kansas passed an animal cruelty bill.

·        The second NTA video has not been released yet, still searching for a narrator.

2006 Fall Convention – Southeast Quadrant

·        Ed Grillot reported that the convention is coming along well. They are offering for the sweepstakes a NTA print, Henry Rifle and a Bear trap.

·        Friends of the NRA are in the process of reviewing the ITA application for  a $800 grant for the fall convention.

·        Ed Grillot made a motion to have 100 patches made for the fall convention. Tom Gilman seconded. Carried

2007 Fall Convention – Southwest Quadrant

·        Dennis Johnson and Craig Sweet had a meeting with the president of the Clark County Fair Grounds in Osceola.

2008 Fall Convention – Northwest Quadrant

·        Dwayne Kay is looking at the Humboldt Fair Ground or Algona.

·        ITA is considering hosting the 2008 NTA convention.

·        Sue Armour, Executive Director for the Mason City Convention and Visitors Bureau and Katy Elson, Director of the North Iowa Fair Association, presented a proposal for the 2008 NTA Convention.

·        Lance Towns will look into Cedar Rapids facility for the 2008 NTA Convention.

·        Motion made by Lance Towns to put a bid in for the 2008 NTA Convention. Seconded by Tom Gilman. Carried.

  Unfinished Business

·        Gene Purdy gave the budget for 2006. Motion made by George Scalf to accept the budget for 2006 seconded by Ralph Hardy. Carried.

·        Motion made by Dennis Johnson to untable the membership dues increase that was tabled at the winter meeting, seconded by Gene Purdy. Carried

·        The budget committee felt there was no need to raise the membership dues at this time.

·        Gene Purdy requested a vote for membership dues increase. Defeated and membership dues will remain the same.

·        It was discussed to donate pelts for the fur coat for Miss Iowa. It was suggested that you could sell your pelts and put the money into the fur coat fund.

·        Motion made by Gene Purdy to accept what raffle tickets were sold for the artist proof at $3.00 each $10.00 for 3 but from now on they will be $5.00 each or 5 for$20.00 Seconded by Ed Clouse.

·        Jim Mallon made a motion to approve the executive council decision to sell raffle tickets for the artist proof at $5.00 each or 5 for $20.00 which will be drawn at this falls convention. Seconded by Dan Dalton. Carried

·        We will be printing 800 raffle tickets.

·        Gene Purdy presented the pens that were printed for the Iowa Trappers Association for giving away banquets, booths, etc. Charging a $1.00 each at convention. Gene Purdy will keep the pens with him and keep a log of where they are.

·        The Turkey Federation wanted to put our web site on theirs and visa versa to get more hits. Spencer Hill will take care of this.

·        Jim Mallon had checked into changing the convention date and found that it was not feasible to do so but to make our convention bigger and better.

·        Jim Mallon had suggested having members only of any state organization attend the guest speakers demo at the convention. It was decided that this would be a difficult logistic issue.

·        Spencer Hill will be contacting the Iowa Conservation Alliance to see if they will help pursue the petition to the DNR about the bobcat harvest season.

·        Cody Hutton requested to use the Iowa Trappers Association gambling license for his Texas Holdem’ Tournament. Motion made by Mike Free to allow Cody Hutton to loan the Iowa Trappers Association Gambling license for his Texas Holdem’ Tournament. Seconded by Ed Grillot. Carried.

  New Business

·        Jim Mallon received a contract from the Fayette County Fair Board to have a booth at the fair. Motion made by Jim Mallon to have a booth at the Fayette County Fair for a cost of $65. Seconded by Dan Dalton. Carried.

·        Amendment made by Dan Dalton to pay an additional $7.00 for gate fee for a total of  $72. Seconded by Ed Grillot. Carried.

·        Jim Mallon asked to have banners in all four quadrants. They are 2’ by 6’ foot yellow banners designed to match the colors of our patches. Retail cost of $150. Ed Grillot said he would purchase one for the SE quadrant, Jim Mallon will purchase one for the NE quadrant, Spencer Hill will purchase one for the NW quadrant and Jim Noneman will purchase one for the SW quadrant.

·        President and Treasurer officer position are up for reelection. Mike Free nominated Chris Grillot for Treasurer. Ed Clouse nominated Anna Marie Scalf for Treasurer. Craig Sweet nominated Spencer Hill for President.

·        Cody Hutton suggested for our future conventions to have a banquet on Friday night to help make our conventions bigger and better.

Iowa Trappers Assn., Inc. Directors Winter Meeting

February 5, 2006

Call to Order

President Spencer Hill called the winter director’s meeting to order at 10:20 am at the Iowa State Tree Nursery, Ames, IA.

Roll Call

Roll call was answered by 4 officers, 16 directors, 4 directors at large, 4 proxy representatives, NTA director George Scalf, FTA director Dean Mitchell and DNR Ron Andrews.

New Directors

None

Approve Agenda

Motion made by Tom Walters, seconded by Jeff Kempf to accept agenda. Carried.

Minutes

Motion made by Tom Walters, seconded by Gene Purdy to approve minutes. Carried.

Secretary’s Report

Dita Mallon reported current membership as 1153.
Life Time membership as 246 (living)
Results of members received from convention/raffle ticket mailing as of end of year. New members 147, renew 84 and 4 life.
Convention membership results were 50 new and 89 renew.
George Scalf’s mailing for expired members resulted in 51 renews.
Membership contest winner was Chris Pohl who wishes to donate the membership to his local library.
Dita Mallon reported that the ITA computer died and that it had been failing. She requested that the board approve a new Dell laptop computer, laser printer and associated software to run the secretary position and to approve a budget of $1100 to $1300 to make the purchase. Motion made by Gene Purdy, seconded by Tom Walters to approve budget of $1100 to $1300 for computer, printer and associated software. Carried.
Dita Mallon presented the board with a proposed logo change to match our decals and patches since she was in charge of ordering her own supplies. Motion made by Randy Mitchell, seconded by Dan Reich to approve the new logo change. Carried. One change was made to say “Fur – A Natural Renewable Resource” to membership application, letterhead and envelope. Motion made by Tom Walters, seconded by Dennis Johnson to add “Fur – A Natural Renewable Resource”. Carried.
Dita Mallon reported that the membership expenses have gone up but our membership dues have not gone up in years. A motion was made by Jim Mallon to raise the membership dues to $25 seconded by Dan Reich. A motion was made to table the discussion until the finance committee/ executive council does the budget on April 2nd for the next directors meeting by Tom Walters seconded by Randy Mitchell. Carried.

  Treasurer’s Report

·        Anna Marie Scalf presented convention and quarter financial reports.

·        Anna Marie Scalf wanted to know if we were presenting a plaque for the Best Furbearer Mount to the Iowa Taxidermist Association this year. Motion made by Jeff Kempf, seconded by George Scalf to present plaque for the Best Furbearer Mount to the Iowa Taxidermist Association. Carried.

·        Moyl Mink mailed a rebate check for 2003/2004 trapping season.

  Correspondence

        Anna Marie Scalf received:

·        Letter from the FFA for judging, received to late to do anything with.

        Chris Grillot received:

·        Thank you from the students for the Fur Trapping Workshop at the Cherokee County Conservation Board.

        Dita Mallon received:

·        Miss Rodeo Iowa emailed looking for sponsors.  Motion made by Gene Purdy seconded by Dan Reich to send Miss Rodeo Iowa $50. Carried.

·        The passing of Robert “Buff” Olsen former ITA present.

        Spencer Hill received:

·        Thank you from Dean Mitchell for his daughter-in-law.

·        Iowa Conservation Alliance Meeting, which Spencer attended. Motion made by Jeff Kempf seconded by Tom Walters to pay 2006 dues of $250. Carried.

·         Spender Hill received information on the UNI Dome Sportsman Show for March 10-12 at a cost of $365. Motion made to attend the UNI Dome show by Gene Purdy seconded by Ed Grillot. Carried. Jim Mallon will be taking care of the ITA booth.

·        The Friends of the NRA requested a donation. Motion made by Tom Walters seconded by Jim Mallon to donate $500 to The Friends of the NRA. Carried.

 

District Director Report

·        Chris Pohl is asking the ITA to donate 4 dozen 1-½ dukes to the Sioux County Sportsman’s Banquet in which 2 dozen will be returned. Motion made by Jim Mallon seconded by Dan Reich to donate the 4 dozen traps to the Sioux County Sportsman’s Banquet. Carried.

·        Wayne Funke had presented the NAFA raffle packet with Craig Sweet being the winner of half the money and the other half going to NTA and to ITA.  

·        Motion made by Gene Purdy seconded by Jeff Kempf to put the fur rebate checks into the scholarship fund. Carried.

·        Tom Walters stated that the ITA booth will be at Expo Center in the Quad Cites on Feb. 16 – 19.. Miss Iowa will be making 2 appearances as a thank you on behalf of the coat. One at the fall Convention and alternating between the Expo in Quad Cities and the UNI Dome. Miss Iowa needs a coat for this year need to start working on this. Dean Hoffman will be in charge of this.

FTA Report

·        The FTA has a new treasurer

·        Ramona Pluger is the member coordinator for the FTA.

·        FTA Convention will be Evansville, Indiana June 15 – 18

NTA Report

·        Mass. Issue is still underway to allow trapping in the State of Mass.

·        2nd destroy the myth video will officially be viewed at the leadership conference in Bloomington, Illinois on March 25th

·        NTA is making a cookbook. Karen Scalf is putting it together. Send recipes to Karen. Motion made by George Scalf seconded by Mike Sells to donate $100 to the NTA cookbook with the ITA getting recognition in the cookbook. Carried.

·        Motion made by George Scalf seconded by Gene Purdy to donate $100 to the four regional NTA conventions totaling $400. Carried.

·        ITA to bid for the NTA 2008 convention. Bid needs to be turned in at the National Convention in Aug. Tom Walters and Spencer Hill will look into getting bids.

  TIP Report

·        Spencer received a call from Marion Terpstra who had pelts and traps stolen. Marion Terpstra is asking for a donation to help offset the cost of DNA testing. Motion made by George Scalf seconded by Dean Mitchell to send him $1000. Defeated. Motion made by Dan Reich to send $100. Motion died due to a lack of a second.

  Fur Coat

·         Dean Hoffman will be in charge of ordering the coat. Motion made by Dan Reich seconded by Jeff Kemp to have a sheared beaver coat made for Miss Iowa. Carried

  DNR Report

·        Ron Andrews spoke of the proposed Bobcat and Otter harvest season this coming fall.

  2006 Fall Convention – Southeast Quadrant

·        Ed Grillot is chairman for the convention, which is going to be held Monticello Sept. 8th  – 10th.

·        Ed Grillot has asked permission to place ads for the convention in the local papers and in the Trapper & Predator Caller.  Motion made by Dan Reich and seconded by Dan Dalton to have Ed go ahead and make the decision to place ads in the papers and magazine. Carried.

  2007 Fall Convention – Southwest Quadrant

·        Dennis Johnson is looking at the Osceola Fair Grounds or Madison County Fair Grounds.

2008 Fall Convention – Northwest Quadrant

·        Dwayne Kay is looking at the Humboldt Fair Ground.

  Unfinished Business

  New Business

·        Cody Hutton asking on the behalf of Dan Shaw for the ITA to help with the postage for the Traps 4 Kids. Will be discussed at the April meeting.

·        Cody Hutton was asked to have to ITA support a Texas Holdem’ Tournament. Anna Marie will check into this and get back to the Executive Council.

·        Cody Hutton asked about putting together a presentation, 40-50min long, to students in schools about trapping in Iowa and educating kids about trapping. Cody Hutton, Dan Reich, Jeff Kempf, Gene Purdy, Chris Flynn and Kaare Sanness will be in charge of putting together materials for a power point presentation.

·        Cody Hutton shared that Des Moines artist Larry Anderson has offered to do a series of wildlife prints for the ITA and he will help market his paintings. The bobcat will be the first in the series. Motion made by Mike Sells seconded by Ed Grillot to accept Cody Hutton’s proposal for the ITA wildlife Series by artist Larry Anderson of a cost of $12,000 approx. Carried.

·        Cody Hutton asked about the ITA website having a Webmaster. Chris Grillot informed Cody that the ITA website does have a Webmaster.  It was decided that information wanting to be put on the website get routed to Spencer Hill. He will then   forwarded to the ITA Webmaster.

·        Gene Purdy asked about the ITA making up items with ITA logo for our banquets and booths to give out to people as an advertising tool. Gene Purdy and Tracy Hutton will work on pricing different items.

·        Next ITA board meeting dates will be April 2 and June 26

·        Jim Mallon asked about changing the Fall Convention dates so we are not on the same weekend of Wisconsin’s Convention. Dan Reich will be checking into the date of surrounding states convention.

·        Jim Mallon suggested that only ITA members are allowed in the guest speakers demo at the fall convention. It was suggested that any member of any state trappers organization would be allowed at the quest speakers demo.

·        Mike Sells asked if the ITA would be interested in presenting a conservation officer a plaque of recognition for outstanding service. To be added to unfinished business for our next meeting.

Iowa Trappers Assn., Inc. Directors Summer Meeting

June 12, 2005

Call to Order

President Spencer Hill called the summer director’s meeting to order at 10:17am at the Iowa State Tree Nursery, Ames, IA.

Roll Call

Roll call was answered by 4 officers, 12 directors, 3 directors at large, 3 proxy representatives, NTA director George Scalf, FTA director Dean Mitchell. 

New Directors

None.

Approve Agenda

Motion made be Dwayne Kay, seconded by Jim Noneman to approve agenda. Carried.

Minutes

Corrections received from Anna Marie Scalf.

Motion made by Mike Free, seconded by Dennis Johnson to accept minutes.  Carried.

Secretary’s Report

Chris Grillot reported membership is approximately 1400.

Approximately 400 names are expired members. Discussion on how to encourage these people to renew their ITA membership. Motion made by Dean Hoffman, seconded by Dennis Johnson to have Chris Grillot send a list of expired members to George Scalf who will draft a letter to send to the expired members. Carried.

Positions on the board up for vote at the fall meeting are Dennis Johnson, executive council and Mike Sells, director at large.

Treasurer’s Report

Anna Marie Scalf gave balances for the various ITA accounts.

The CD that the ITA has is due to expire July 31.Discussion held on renewing the CD at the current bank rate. The CD that is due to expire is at 4-½ %. Consensus is to let Anna Marie Scalf check on options for renewal or other investment options. She is to discuss with executive council.

The scholarship fund does not have enough funds to give scholarship and maintain required minimum balance for the account. Anna Marie Scalf requested to move money from general fund to scholarship to maintain minimum balance. Consensus to approve.

Gene Purdy reports he has eleven scholarship applications and is requesting the board approve giving 3 - $500 scholarships this year. Motion made by Dean Mitchell, seconded by Dave Plueger to give 3 - $500 scholarships this year. Carried. Spencer Hill selected Dan Reich, Dan Dalton, Dwayne Kay and Mike Free to assist Gene Purdy in selecting the three scholarship winners.

Motion made by Jeff Kempf, seconded by Dennis Johnson to place a $70 half page ad in the Indiana NTA convention program. Carried.

Discussion held on having a booth at the NTA convention in Indiana. Anna Marie Scalf reports booth space is reserved. Motion made by Dennis Johnson, seconded by Jim Mallon to have an ITA booth at the Indiana NTA convention. Carried.

Discussion held on having a table sponsored by the ITA at awards banquet at the Indiana NTA convention. Motion made by Jeff Kempf, seconded by Dennis Johnson to purchase a table of 8 for $250. Carried.

Discussion held on amount of money to authorize for spending at the Indiana NTA convention. Motion made by Ed Grillot, seconded by Jeff Kempf to authorize Spencer Hill to spend up to $500 at the Indiana NTA convention. Carried.

Anna Marie Scalf reported purchasing the DNR furbearer license list for the mailing at .01 cent/name.

Correspondence

·        Dwayne Kay reported he will be helping with a youth trapping seminar. He is requesting a donation of six dozen 1-½-Duke traps. Motion made by Jeff Kempf, seconded by Dean Hoffman to approve $400 dollars for Dwayne Kay to purchase traps for the trapping seminar. Carried.

·        Spencer Hill reported for Chris Pohl. Pohl is requesting a case of NTA handbooks to use for trapping seminars. Motion made by Gene Purdy, seconded by Dan Dalton to purchase a case of NTA handbooks. Carried.

·        Gene Purdy reported receiving a request to assist with a trapper education seminar at Springbrook.

Anna Marie Scalf received

·        Friends of NRA grant require a report after convention. Jim Mallon will need to complete after fall convention.

·        Thank you from Cindy Seff, FBU.

·        Thank you from Iowa FFA.

Spencer Hill received

·        May NTA board and executive council minutes.

·        Thank you from MA. NTA director.

District Director Report

·        18 – Dean Hoffman reported a trapper received a citation for animal in trap. Another person killed the animal and the animal was an incidental catch during beaver season. Hoffman reported DNR supervisor Jennifer Lancaster stated any out of season catch is illegal and no tolerance will be given. Hoffman is requesting a letter from the ITA to the DNR for clarification of incidental catch policy. Dave Plueger and Spencer Hill will draft a letter and get approval from executive council before mailing.

·        Ed Grillot reported Tom Walters presented fur coat at Miss Iowa pageant last night.

·        Dave Plueger reported the US Wildlife & Fisheries is working on a federally required draft on use of upper Mississippi River for next ten years. An ITA director needs to help represent the sportsmen on the draft. Next phone meeting is July 12. Will contact Tom Walter to see if he is available. One draft outlaws trapping on wildlife preserve areas.

·        Craig Sweet reported on attending the Iowa Taxidermy show and picking out the best mount.

FTA Report

·        Dean Mitchell reported FTA convention is in Kearney, NE.

·        FTA is offering to send two DNR conservation people to the Fur Takers College.

·        Any donations for the white elephant auction would be appreciated.

·        Discussion held on authorizing money to be spent at the FTA convention. Motion made by Gene Purdy, seconded by Jeff Kempf to authorize Dean Mitchell or Dave Plueger to spend up to $500 at the FTA convention. Carried.

NTA Report

·        The MD regional NTA convention is July 7-9.

·        The NTA defeated the anti trap legislation is MD and Howard Co.

·        The NTA defeated anti trapping legislation in RI.

·        Illinois is working on getting snares approved.

·        Indiana convention – At this time no part of any specie that is protected in Indiana can be sold at the NTA convention.

·        The NTA hopes to have second video done by convention in Indiana.

·        Attendance at theMuscle Shoals regional convention was the same as last year. Next year southeast convention will be held in Chattanooga, TN.

·        Miles City, MT regional convention is June 24-25.

·        With NTA board approval, the American Trapper magazine will go to four issues per year.

·        The NTA sent a ballot to the NTA board of directors to vote on the NTA borrowing $45,000 if needed from the lifetime fund.

Fur Coat

Anna Marie Scalf reported the fur coat cost $1875. Groenewald donated $150 toward the fur coat. $1 donated to fur coat fund. Balance remaining is $1724. $1500 was budgeted for the fur coat. Motion made by Ed Grillot, seconded by Craig Sweet to transfer money from general fund to the fur coat fund. Carried.

Ron Andrews/DNR Report

·        George Scalf reported two new commissioners have been appointed.

·        George Scalf recommends the ITA executive council request to be put on the mailing list for minutes and meeting dates for the Iowa Natural Resources Commission.

2005 Fall Convention – Northeast Quadrant

·        Jim Mallon reports plans for convention are on schedule. Advertising has been sent to magazines.

·        Help will be needed for the white elephant auction.

·        Question rose of camping Thursday night. Mallon felt that should be OK.

·        Anna Marie Scalf has convention patches. They cost $2 and will be sold for $4.

·        Spencer Hill will work on getting mailing out for membership drive and sweepstakes.

2006 Fall Convention – Southeast Quadrant

·        The 2006 fall convention is Sep. 8-10.

·        Ed Grillot reported the sweepstakes prizes will be the Mountain Man print, rifle and cash.

2007 Fall Convention – Southwest Quadrant.

 Dennis Johnson reports the Clarke County board will be having a meeting to discuss the ITA having a convention there. Johnson will contact them the end of July.

Elections

·        Current nominations are Jeff Kempf, vice-president and Dita Mallon, secretary.

·        Nominations remain open till the membership meeting.

Unfinished Business

·        Jim Mallon asked if sweepstakes tickets are ready. Tickets not ready.

·        Dennis Johnson asked if Anna Marie Scalf had heard from Moyle Mink.

New Business

·        Scholarship selection committee reported the recipients of the ITA scholarship. The recipients are Chad Porshe, Steffaney Sweet and Jason Huisman.

·        Spencer Hill reported receiving a resignation notice for Dan Shaw, district 6 director, due to be activated into military duty. Motion made by Jim Mallon, seconded by Gene Purdy to hold the position for Dan Shaw while in active military duty. Carried.

·        Chris Grillot reported EJ Kelley has not met attendance requirements for board meetings. Chris Grillot will send him a dismissal letter.
